The Noire River is one of Western Quebec’s best kept canoeing secrets! This overnight canoe trip explores the Noire’s rugged wilderness region. Its gentle currents pull us over crystal clear waters, past sandy beaches and alongside evergreen forests. The Noire’s numerous class I, II and optional class III rapids provide opportunities for you to learn new skills under the tutelage of our expert guides. The Noire is another of Quebec’s wilderness rivers which is constantly under threat of hydro development. In 1992, Les Amis de la Rivière Noire was successful in blocking a major dam project with the help of paddlers. In 2007, the Noire faced (yet again!) another threat to it’s existence through the proposal of another hydro electric development project. Your participation in this canoe trip helps raise awareness for the Noire’s constant plight. Each paddler we take down the river brings us one step closer to achieving the permanent protection of this beautiful aquatic ecosystem.
