The 32-hour Advanced Wilderness First Aid course expands upon the core curriculum of the WFA. It goes into greater depth on essential first aid subjects, emphasizing leadership and management of wilderness emergencies. The Advanced WFA incorporates more trauma and medical emergencies along with their appropriate interventions using hands-on, scenario based learning. Additional concepts such as building improvised litters and litter carrying techniques, injury evaluation and judgment-based critical decision making, spinal management and long term care considerations are an integral part of this advanced program. This course is ideal for outdoor educators, trip leaders (2-4 days), adventure camp counselors and river guides.
Certification is valid for 3 years and includes AHA Heartsaver CPR.
