Whitewater kayaking is a fun, exciting and dynamic sport that you will enjoy for many years to come.  To become proficient at whitewater kayaking takes a combination of instructional training, practice, experience and judgement.  At Esprit we can get you off to the right start with either Private, Semi-Private or Group instruction.  Group instruction is usually done in a 2 day or 5 day format while private and semi-private instruction can be customized to fit your particular needs and schedules.

What is different about Esprit’s learn to kayak program is that it doesn’t end when your course finishes. We understand that there are certain aspects of kayaking that take longer for some people to learn that is why we offer a “Learn to Roll” guarantee on our 5 day courses.  In the event the roll remains elusive to you after 5 days we will provide you with a series of 2 hr rolling clinics at our basecamp FREE until you have it mastered.

After your course we know that you are going to need to practice.  With that in mind kayakers who have done a minimum of 2 days training with us are invited to paddle with our rafting trips down the Calumet Channel of the Ottawa every day that we have rafting trips going to the river.  This gives you an opportunity to have some supervision and guidance as you refine your skills.  The daily departure is from 9:00 am til 1:00pm.

We also offer you a gift certificate to save $100 off one of our winter paddling trips to Mexico or Costa Rica.  You can claim your discount once you have spent over $1000 in training with us in one season.  Book a 5 day kayaking clinic, a river rescue program and a wilderness first aid course and that will surely put you over the top!

Private Instruction

Learn to paddle with 1 on 1 instruction.  Private Clinics are perfect for those that already paddle but want to focus on a particular skill (rolling, river running, surfing, etc.  We can provide Private Clinics on the times and dates that suit you best.

Join with a friend or partner for a clinic customized just for the 2 of you.  This is a great option for both beginners and experienced paddlers that want focused  instructional attention.  It makes for a fun gift to share with someone or even a “special date” (now we’ve got you thinking)!

Group Instruction

Join into one of our scheduled courses and make some new paddling friends.  Courses are either 2 day “Classic Clinics” or 5 day “Immersion” courses
